CHROMATIC — Light takes shape
Turn a continuous metal knot, switch between silver, cobalt and coral, and change its thickness to see how one form catches the light.

Material as interaction
CHROMATIC is an original 3D web experiment made by Tink / Boloop. A pale peach surface and outlined display type frame an actual WebGL sculpture. Reflections and highlights respond to rotation; this is not a prerecorded animation.
Try it
Drag the stage to turn the form, or focus the stage and use the arrow keys. Silver, Cobalt and Coral switch the material. Thickness changes the tube size, and Pause motion stops automatic rotation.
Making and scope
Built with Three.js, procedural knot geometry and environment lighting. Three.js and its addons retain their MIT notices. The case image is an actual rendering screenshot. A WebGL-capable browser is required; physical-device and low-powered GPU performance have not been measured.
