Hoppscotch · Inspect HTTP Requests in the Browser
Open-source API client for organizing requests, inspecting responses, and managing collections; note the reported limitation when using collection-level OAuth variables.
Quick start
Open https://hoppscotch.io in a modern browser. First, choose a public test endpoint or an API you have permission to test, select the HTTP method, fill in the address and parameters/headers, then inspect the response. Desktop, CLI, and self-hosted installations have their own setup paths; please verify from the official repository, and do not treat the web entry as an installation package.
Inspect a single API request clearly
Hoppscotch places the request method, address, parameters, headers, and response in the same workspace. Official documentation also covers collections, environments, GraphQL, and real-time protocols. For developers and testers, a practical use is to compare a failed request with a normal request under reproducible conditions.
Start with a test endpoint that does not alter business data: first check the status code, response body, and response headers, then save the request to a collection. Values that change across different environments should be placed in environment configurations. Browser requests are still subject to network and CORS rules; when proxies or interceptors are needed, choose official solutions within your trust boundary, and do not submit confidential requests to arbitrary public proxies.
Collection-level OAuth variables require separate verification
Independent user Daniel Maag reported in issue 6722: with Desktop 26.9.0 paired with web bundle 2026.9.0, when generating OAuth Client Credentials tokens from collection properties, whether collection variables are expanded can be affected by the currently active request tab. In his controlled test, placing the same values into environment or global variables worked. Verified as of October 23, 2026, this issue remains open. This is a user report, not personally tested by this site, and this workaround cannot be guaranteed to suit all configurations.
Basic request inspection and collection organization are worth trying; if your workflow heavily relies on OAuth, first verify variable resolution in an authorized test environment. The editor highlighting variables does not mean the actual token request has correctly replaced them.
This site documents the source code version 2026.9.0 released on September 30; cloud services are updated separately. That version announcement also includes enterprise features, which should not be assumed as free capabilities of the community edition. The original project and icon belong to Hoppscotch contributors, and the MIT license link is provided in the documentation.
