Lazygit: review Git changes before you commit
Inspect diffs and stage selected changes in a terminal Git UI. Keep the staged review and behavioral checks separate.
Requirements
Git, a terminal, and a local Git repository on Windows, macOS or Linux. Start with recoverable test changes.
Quick start
The release checked on November 1, 2026 is 0.66.2 (October 16). Obtain the matching official binary from the release page, or follow the official package instructions. With Homebrew available, brew install lazygit. Check lazygit --version, then run lazygit inside a practice Git repository. Boloop has not installed or run it.

Make a small change reviewable
Lazygit is Jesse Duffield and contributors’ terminal UI for Git. It is useful when a coding agent leaves changes across several files: inspect a diff and choose which parts belong in the next commit. The UI also performs state-changing Git operations, so start in a disposable repository or a copy you can recover.
Inspect, stage, then inspect again
The current README explains how to focus a file’s diff with 0, stage a hunk with Space, and use a for line selection. Check the staged pane before committing. Consult the bindings for your installed version rather than assuming a shortcut is harmless. The release checked on November 1, 2026 is 0.66.2, published October 16.
Read the feedback in its actual environment
In issue 6160, SweetCelestia reports unexpected pane changes while reviewing diffs on Windows with Lazygit 0.66.1 and Windows Terminal Preview. The report remains open; Boloop has not reproduced it or confirmed its status in 0.66.2. Test focus and navigation in your own terminal before a large review.
A readable staged diff is still not proof that a feature works. Pair review with the AI-generated code acceptance checklist. Boloop has not installed or run Lazygit for this recommendation.
